Group Show Enquiry

I am going to do my entry for the group show and i wanted to ask a question. My Silver has been a bit poorly the last couple of weeks. She took a huge allergic reaction to something (i don't know what) and her entire body swelled up in big itchy sores and her hair began to fall out in clumps like this all over her body





The hair loss got even worse after these photo's but i didn't take anymore pictures of her skin. I think that she is getting better as the swelling of her body has come down a lot and she is letting me lightly brush her with a long bristled soft dandy brush. However the sores are all turning scabby and the hair is still coming away so i am trying to brush her only if nessasary. I don't know when she is going to be fully over this reaction, i don't even know what the actual trigger was, so i don't know if she will be back to being Silver and presentable enough to go to the group show. The vets are still coming back and forth every couple of days and she is on Steriod injections and antihistamines, although they stopped giving her anti histamine injections last week but she still has oral ones to take. Initially i was going to get the vet out because she had cut ler leg and the swelling didn't come down over the weekend, she was fine on the Sunday night apart from a swollen hind lower leg, by the Monday morning her hair had come away in clumps and she would hardly let me touch her

So what i was wondering was, if i do my entry and Silver is not better enough, can i swap my Entry for Foxx providing his AHS overstamp is with me in time or should Silver not be better will i have to completely forfeit my entry?

We do try our best to let everyone take part in our shows, in the past have waited for ownership papers to come in, also crabbet lettes to be sent also.

I am sure we would try to keep you on hold as long as possible but we do have a cut off point when the catalogue is to be completed.

Send in your entry but put a cover letter in to put it on hold.

And contact alison on the date of close of entries or as soon as you know before hand.

If it wasn't a genuine concern of mine i would never have asked the question but as i am worried about her and whether or not her skin will be better by then i thought that i had better ask, but we've got 6 or so weeks still to go which is a long time so here's hoping her skin has recovered and she is back to her tip top self again

god, one of our mares at work has done this, initially we thought it was a horse bit, as that was roughly the size of the swelling, but we couldnt really understand as it was under her turnout rug and began to weep and went all crusty, resulting in the same hair loss.
She has had several of these on her body, and we put it down to some sort of reaction to ticks (they have come out in force) and so we bathed the areas in salt water and some good old sudocreme to sooth it. the swellings soon went down but like Silver she is now left with these bare patches and looks a bit like a cruelty case!

Aww, thats a shame about the mare at your work. Silver has had her reaction, swelling and hair loss over her whole body. Even her lower legs were affected. She lost an awful lot of coat. She has improved a good bit and this week we are trying her without the steriods and just giving her the oral antihistamines to see how she gets on. Been cutting things out of her feed and re-introducing it and she is only allowed to wear brand new rugs that she's never had on before the rection first began. It's awful to see my horse the way she is but well these things happen and as long as she gets better i'm not really that bothered about a few shows, though very stumped as blood results have shown nothing and the vets have said from the start that it's highly unlikely skin scrapes would show up anything, and i hadn't changed anything with her, but huge improvement over the weekend which is a good sign. My friend had a horse that had something very similar happen, it went on for 6 months and they never found the cause. He's very sensitive now.
