Call me thick and I know I've been living down a rabbit hole for about a year but I thought the Group Show was at Edinburgh I downloaded the schedule today to enter and it's in Refrew?? I don't know if I can make it now I think because I've been so long out of everything the thought of trailering a new to showing horse to Glasgow is giving me palpatations and anxiety attacks... How long from FRB (about 2 hours?) I drive slow when I have precious cargo Not sure now...scared....telling myself I can't do it, it's not worth it and just leave Polka in the field... Fee

Hi Fee
The show venue is Scotlands "flagship equestrian venue" there is no other venue like it in Scotland. it is VERY easy to get to, I have competed there numerous times it takes me from Kirkliston (just at the forth road bridge) about 1hour 15mins. It is a easy drive all on motorway so the horses have a very smooth journey. I have never had a problem with the traffic going or coming back all the times I have been there. You basically stay on motorway past Glasgow airport heading for the Erskine Bridge then branch of for Bishopton then you are there, easy. It is so worth the journey , you wont be disappointed with the venue, it really makes you feel special to compete there, just ask anyone who has. They do day stabling for £10, so easy for you to make a day of it, so giving you a chance to catch up with other classes etc. Go on take your gorgeous girly, you will love it !!

I'm going to bring Merlyn...........splint and all!! It'll be good for us both I think. I can't decide if I should enter him for the novice ridden as it may well be too much for him. Maverick has had no travel experience yet and I'm not sure that I can cope with them both on my own. Stephen is off to the Isle of Man with his motorbike for the TT, so I'll have to get on with it myself for a change!

Thanks Susan will give it some thought I know it's mainly because I'm 'out' of things and my confidence is low. Jayne you and me both. I have always had to do things completely by myself and now I'm feeling I can't do it! Arrggghh!! Just got myself my first ever trailer too Hopefully see you there! Fee x

The thought of it is making me anxious too but I'm going to give it a try. If not I may just volunteer to be a helper. I hate towing but don't have a problem towing anyone else's horse - weird. The thought of being stuck in traffic is not good - not with him. Choose the times wisely!

As Susan has said - the travelling down is really ok - motorway 95% of the way, just avoid peak times. The venue is fab, every time we have been it has been an amazing day, whether the horse went well or not! Its just a great place with a lovely atmosphere. Like it says when you phone them on their answering machine "the best place in the world"!! i will be grooming on the day - but if i can help anyone - just ask! Eliz xx

Fee, you will be fine, you did a fab job of the driving when we went down to pick up up Inka Just have to ignore the prats that think they own the road and have to drive everywhere at high speed Anne x

Thanks for replying everyone. I'll put my entry in in the next few days and hopefully I manage. Couple more questions if that's ok... It may be a good idea for me to book a stable, that way Polka can chill and I can see things, because I'm always alone I can always basically arrive, show and go! How do I book a stable? Do I phone the EC direct? Also and again please excuse my ignorance but I got thinking that perhaps I should also enter her for classic head seen as I'm there and went all that way (hopefully!) but what is classic head? I'm not sure Polka has that? Sorry it that's a no brainer question but just in case they have to be a certain 'type'? Thanks again Fee x

to book a stable call ingliston direct, think the lady is called Denise. the classic head (this is my take on it) will be awarded to the horse with the typiest head - and to be honest i think it depends on the judge to what there preference is?? dished head, tea cup muzzle, width between eyes - that sort of thing - me thinks...anyone else got a take on it??

I am coming to the show from 30 miles north of Aberdeen. It's a lovely venue, the stables are nice and there's plenty places to eat and watch the action. I am going down with Julie beattie and i'm about 40 miles away from Julie. Should be a good run down, i'm looking forward to it! Just need to get my entry in once i've decided what classes i am doing as i think that my lass is going to be okay

It is great to hear that the entries are now coming in. This is going to be a fantastic show, held in what was awarded the best equestrian venue in Scotland 2009 ;D

I'm stil trying to decide if I should attempt to ride Merlyn or not in the novice class!!! I suspect he probably would faint with fright, so perhaps I'll just show in hand and maybe have a short ride round on him in the warm up area, just to let him see what its all about.
ETA: Just seen that there is a Pre Novice Ridden Class........I assume this is for green horses?

The Pre-Novice Ridden class is ideal for a young novice horse as the judge will NOT ride them. So allows the horse to be ridden by it's regular rider without the added pressure of a different rider getting on board.
A short individual show will be required and will be judged as a ridden horse.
Full definition of Pre Novice Ridden Class is in Schedule.
