hard day

After such a great weekend we had a horrible day today,we had to put Evitaa my pure bred mare down :'(I bought her back 3yrs ago as a severe laminitic basically to put her down but she fought so hard that we decided to give her a chance.Last year she was so good we decided to cover her with george which all went well until about a month before she foaled,we had been so careful with her feed but think it was hormonal.She has been on high doses of pain relief so we decided to give her a nice summer on grass with her baby then quietly put her down but time caught up with her and she was very sore yesterday so i made the decision this morning.She was the sweetest mare and everybodys favorite on the yard,her filly looks like being the same so we have something of her left here.

So sorry to hear this sad news, I know how it feels to lose a much loved horse. My thoughts are with you at this time. Hope her foal is doing ok.

So sorry to hear this Lynn, having lost Tammuz last year to laminitis I know what a nightmare this is.

Lynn, so sorry to hear this - she was a beautiful mare and so sweet natured but I know what a job you've had to keep her sound and pain free. It's always sad to lose them, but you've done the right thing if she was sore. Glad you have her baby x
