2011 shows

i am just testing to see what everyone says to this idea -
Waulkmill are planning on 2 shows next year, one spring and one summer but the dates calender is pretty full up this way, there is a free date on Sat 20 Aug - day before the northern show
IF - we were to try for affiliation to AHS would people come up from south to aberdeenshire for 2 shows in 1 weekend, the venues are both fab and about 30mins or so away in a lorry or would we be better trying for another weekend and not running affiliated

suggestions on a postcard please (not really on here is fine )

I would certainly do the two shows anyway if i can, affiliated or not. With plenty notice it's not a problem for me.

That is the date of the Northern show isnt it?

Just a thought Caroline but if my memory serves me correct Zoe held her show New Aberdour on the same weekend as the Group show at Ingilston and the entires were very poor, we did both shows that weekend but we would not usually do 2 shows back to back but i didn't want to let Zoe down and they have some great prizes on offer as well as trophy's, Arab classes are very thin on the ground as it is and i strongly feel "use it or lose it" ! We always try and enter shows even if we don't get to them as i don't want to lose the classes we already have so waulkmill catering for us Arab people is great but i personally feel it would be better on another weekend so we can all have the option of doing both shows.

I also feel that having Arab classes at shows like this is a great way to promote and showcase our Arabs to other Horsey people and not just ourselves, i think we really need to encourage new people in to the breed

fiona is struggling to get free weekends, i thought if there were 2 shows in the same area then they might be both better supported - i know i will travel a bit further and stay over for 2 shows rather than 1 makes more use of the diesel
i think the fact zoe's show is up here and the group at ingliston ment that some folk would be late in getting back to aberdeen on sat and be too shattered to go out the following day to a local show - i know i couldnt do a show in glasgow then drive home and go out the following day to compete but 2 in the same area isnt so bad??
JB would be the Sun think the northern show is the Sat or the other way round - wouldnt be the same day just the same weekend
fitting dates in is a nightmare if you know of any free weekends please let me know

I wouldn't have a problem doing both shows - as you say it might justify a trip for those who live further away. I think stabling was an issue for many this year?

I'd probably only do one show in a weekend - its too tiring for me otherwise! Hope you can arrange something though
Am pretty positive the Northern show is on the Saturday

i agree with leigh ann,apart from killing me i think it is too much for youngstock to be pulled out 2 days in a row.

I think it would be a real shame for both shows if they were to coincide on the same weekend as it would undoubtedly affect entries. I know it is difficult to try to find a date which doesn't clash with other shows - both shows were really successful this summer so it would be good to try to get as much support for both shows again next year - hope you can find another suitable weekend. The Northern Show is booked for Saturday the 20th.
