hi there- has anybody got any experience using camrosa ointment- good or bad? willow has a deep cut to her fetlock, and was thinking it might be good to reduce scarring/proud flesh? not sure if it is any good, a waste of money, or if it is harmfull at all? whisper has done much the same to each one of her legs as a youngster, and has lots of scars and some proup flesh- im hoping to show willow so want to reduce as much scarring/proud flesh as i can! any ideas, or advice would be greatly recieved- thanks, vicki. x

I have used Camrosa before and got really good results. But one of the best things you can use is Manuka honey. Excellent results from this.
Good luck.

Hi Vicki, You can buy Manuka Honey in supermarkets eg., Tesco, Sainsbury's. It's about £10 a jar and I know loads of folk who've had excellent results using it. Put it directly onto the wound, it's got natural antibiotics in it

thanks, i'l see if my dad can pick some up next week (he works through in inverness) is it not realy sticky to wash off?!
using a drop of tea tree oil in sterile water to rinse it at the mo, and hypercal cream (herbal remedy cream containing hypericum and calendula) looked nice and pink and clean when changed dressing tonight.

Poor girl!
Slap on the manuka honey, i've heard brilliant things about it. If she tries to lick it, mix in some black wound powder, or even mustard powder, to discourage her

Yip another fan of Makuka honey. When Maverick cut his leg badly during the summer, I slobbered on the honey and it healed very quickly. The cut was quite deep and was badly swollen looking too. I had the vet out who gave antibiotics for him, but it was definitely the honey that did the trick and there is no scaring or anything visable left now.

No badaging required. Just spread it onto the wound and leave it to do it's job

I didn't wash it off daily, just a couple of times a week and there didn't seem to be any need to wash it off the area that the wound was on, just the surrounding hair that was a bit sticky! Mind you once Merlyn discovered that Maverick had the honey on it was a battle to get him to stop licking it off!!!

yeah it was a pretty impressive wound- considering the size of her foot! its coming on very nicely now though- seems to be getting smaller by the day. the vet thought probable be another week of healing left.
little brat is getting wise to me doing stuff with that foot now though- starting to be a right monkey! terrible two's at six months! ha ha!

Manuka honey is fantastic, good for humans too - take it in a cup of hot water when feeling fluey! It certainly seems to be doing the trick on that nasty wound. I get mine fron Holland and Barrett.
