THE DEMISE OF PRINCESS

JUST TO LET EVERYONE KNOW....WE HAD THE OLD MARE PRINCESS PUT TO SLEEP TODAY. VET STILL COULD NOT FEEL A FOAL AND CONFIRMED THAT HER PROBLEM WAS ENCYSTED RED WORM CAUSED THROUGH YEARS OF NEGLECT, AND ALTHOUGH SHE WAS WORMED HERE WHEN WE GOT HER 2 YEARS AGO, AND REGULARLY THEREAFTER, IT WAS TOO LATE. BUT SHE HAD A GOOD 2 YEARS BEING HAPPY WITH US BEING FED, LOTS OF TLC., AND HEAD OF THE HERD. WE ARE TERRIBLY UPSET AT LOSING HER.

TO THE PERSON WHO REPORTED ME TO THE SSPCA; THEY ARRIVED AFTER OUR VET HAD ARRIVED TO ASSESS HER CONDITION. SHE WAS UNDER VETERINARY SUPERVISION SINCE WE HAD HER IN OUR CARE AND THE SSPCA WERE SATISFIED THAT SHE HAD BEEN VERY WELL CARED FOR. I OFFERED THEM TO EXAMINE MY OTHER HORSES BUT THEY DECLINED.

Many thanks for all your kind comments. They are much appreciated. She was a very special mare and she was owned jointly with a very good friend, Jean, who is also a TTeam Practitioner.

As it happens I have a pretty good idea who the person is who reported us. Pity she didnt look a little closer to home!

This is really sad to read, and i'm so sorry for the loss of your poor mare. How sickening that someone reported you without finding out the full and true facts about the mare, that must make the loss of her even more painful for you to accept. RIP and run free Princess
