I am attending on behalf of the group a meeting about the RHS. One of the main points we want to bring up is the possibility of going back to having a separate stallion and gelding class as happened a number of years ago. If anyone can remember what year we last had separate classes can you let me know. Also if any member would like me to raise any other points in relation to RHS please let me know.

I think that's a very good idea, as there is no way my gelding (lovely as he is!) would ever stand a chance against the presence that a stallion holds. I know the other bug bear is the lack of classes for babies. It's a shame that the 2 year olds upward have to go in with the adults. Although I do accept that lack of entries make having seperate age classes unviable.

It's a good idea to have separate classes, defo. People are being put off by mixed classes. Heard of people complaining that it was their first and would be their last class for the above reasons and issues of safety although most people handle their stallions without a problem.

not sure if it could be done but to try and have the in-hand & ridden classes running so that the in-hand part/anglo adult class doesnt clash with the ridden classes they would get more in hand entries if they didnt clash

I think it would be a positive step to have the classes split. I also agree that it is off-putting for many to have the 2-3 year old colts up against senior stallions/geldings, although the junior colts did triumph this year. Numbers in the Arab classes were on the up this year, a healthy sign! Hopefully this trend will continue but making the classes more appealing might encourage even more to enter.

Can you also raise the option of having mares with foal's at foot being able to be shown in hand too even if they are allowed to be included in another class and don't have a class of their own.

I attended the meeting on the 9th of July. Very positvie, and I was made to feel very welcome. I put forward suggestions and they were all listened to. The directors were pleased there was a representative from the "arabs" and said they would "take on board" what we asked. Susan
