This morning my beloved Skylark was peacefully P.T.S aged 27 Skylark came to me 14 years ago from Lynn Tait at Downies Stud. She was a beautiful and quite aloof mare with a wicked sense of humour and did not suffer fools gladly, however she was the most genuine pony i could have wished for and we have been through so much together. She loved to strutt her stuff especially in the showring, but she also loved her dressage and put on her most serious face for it! Skylark has spent the last 20 months back at Downies in happy retirement, so its all gone full circle. Many thanks to Lynn for taking the greatest of care with her Gallop free Princess L.x

Hey Lorraine - you were really in my thoughts today. It is the last final act of kindness but the hardest one to carrry out. I have so many lovely memories and photographs of our old girls at shows together - we were both truly blessed to have known them. Really feeling for you tonight. Lynn x

She had a fantastic life with you - she enjoyed her competing and she enjoyed her retirement (particularly the last few weeks in that lovely field ). It's the one thing we can do for them at the end, and not let them linger on in pain or discomfort. She was looking very contented when I saw her last week. I love that first photo - you both look very pleased with yourselves

Not an easy decision but you know in your heart when the time is right and you have to let them go gracefully.
You gave her a fantastic home and she was always absolutely 'Pure White' in the showring which is an absolute credit to you Lorraine.
She was quite a character and lived life to the full.
RIP
