Back late last night after a fantastic weekend of horse eye candy I really liked the show, the horses I have only read and seen in photos were amazing to see in the flesh. On the saturday the gelding and junior classes were excellent and the noise was slightly less for the youngster classes. On the sunday with the seniors the atmosphere was electric. Yes there was loud music, and only in the gallery at the tunnel was people waving whips with bags. TBH I think it didnt help as the horses kept on breaking into canter at the start but once past the "rouges gallery" they were more apt to trot their little socks off The music was brilliant and you couldnt help but get wrapped up in the atmosphere, for the spectator it was a great show. HOWEVER............ There was a "FEW" "proffesional" handlers who I would have been happy to have stuck a bit of wire and chain round their mouths and yank them round the arena at speed One handler in particular who had horses in just about every class was appalling. In the junior classes the baby horses he showed were seen shaking with him. And it was all his "rent a crowd" supporters who were the worst display in the gallery unnecessary whooping at the command of this horrible man...... It got to the stage that although you knew he was likely to win the class , yes his horses looked great, Andrew and I and a lot of the crowd near us did not even applaud him and wanted different horses to win . Better not name this person but in my next report it might be clear who I am talking about......... Will post more this afternoon , with some photos, got stables to do now And what happened to the good weather we were promised for the bank holiday monday

Ok here goes this might be long......... The day started with the gelding classes and won by the chestnut Russian Design by Master design. The next class was the 4yo and over and a great win by Judals Mirage by Rugar and for those who attended our showing demo will recognise the handler in the pic They also went onto take the gelding championship, a well deserved win.

Then onto the yearling colts won by the chestnut Grand Design by Master Design, one of the many by this stallion shown over the weekend and of course Master Design himself went onto win the senior championship. The 2yo fillies won by a Belgian bred and owned filly by FM Gloriaa out of WH Justice. Short video of the final placings. The 2yo colt class won by the stunning Shannan Madan owned by HH Prince Abdullah Bin Fahd Al saud , this colt was amazing and well shown, his movement for a 2yo just blew you away.

On the sunday it was the senior mares and stallions, and a full house of spectators in the stands with the music cranked up and the atmosphere like a music concert. Lots to see but one of my favourite classes was the 11 yr and over mare class with the 24yo grey Magdalina floating into the arena to Tina Turners simply the best, the crowd erupted and this grand old lady strutted her stuff round the arena, yes she is starting to show her age but at 24 she is allowed to. I remember seeing pictures of her in her heyday at the international shows, so it was great to see her strut her stuff. She scored a gold medal with 90 points even getting the elusive 20 from one of the judges for movement. She went onto to take 6th place ina class of 8. The winner was a US bred mare owned by the UAE Secret Obsession by the famous Padrons Psyche with a score of 91.5 The 4 to 6 yo stallion class was won by Master Design bred in the US and owned and shown by Mr R Jones . My favourite class of the weekend was the 7 to 10 yo stallion class and won by my favourite Om El Bahreyn on a score of 92.8. He is just amazing and it was love at first sight with him. Some photos of him and video of the 14yo stallion Cas Sabur.

The championship for the senior females was won by the UAE bred Jamilla Al Zobair with the highest score of the show 94.3!!! Reserve went to Magora by Gazal Al Shaqab Senior male champion went to Master Design and reserve to Sandhiran by Sanidik El Shaklan The ridden class was lovely to watch with all the horses looking stunning and great to see our Northern ridden judge go onto take 2nd place And in the ridden stallion class 1st went to Patros HB beautifully ridden by Claire Fitch . The horses all looked so graceful going round the ring to classical music and only cheering at the very end placings I will be gong back next year, and my non horsey husband who did manage to get just about all the placings spot on is now well and truly under the arab spell........should be a bit more easier to convince him of buying me a few more arabs LOL I can understand where some people dont agree with this kind of showing, and TBH I was disgusted with a few handlers. But in the main all the horses were extremely well behaved and particularly the seniors who really looked like they enjoyed strutting and showing off.

I personally wanna know who the handler was that we wanna beat up LAWL Great report Susan! ;D Glad you had a lovely time I'll never understand why the british crowds at our shows have now taken up this bloody american custom where they get the horses so psyched up they cant trot straight, and i thought in this day and age you got marked down for that! ahwell......must just be me!
