Real improvement with my boy today He is walking much better on the straight, still sore to turn, but much better. There is no heat at all in the feet, and everything else feels normal. Fingers crossed we have made the turn.

Only just caught up with this, though Dante did tell me but I hadn't realised how bad it was.
Very good to hear things are improving, but will you ever know what the problem was? Maybe an abscess will eventually appear; it sounds as if it's been a real nightmare. Do hope Tammuz continues to improve and gets back to his normal cheeky self soon. Thinking of you both.

Still a very slow progress and some days he looks worse.........Today he walked out his box much better, still very sore when he turns but not hopping round. Dropped the bute at the weekend to one in the morning and one in evening. This is just going to take time and patience, and at the end of the day if he cant be ridden as long as he is not in a lot of pain he will spend his days at Cameg as a very expensive pet.......

So glad your boy's starting to improve. As you say - it will just take time & patience. With laminitis they can have good & bad days but try to stay positive. I have seen a couple of horses who took several months to get back to normal.

We think the stress laminitis only lasted a couple of days. Still dont know what is making him so lame!!!! He is not having such a good day today , he was very sore coming out his box this morning. If he is still the same by next week and he is fit enough to travel we will take him into the hospital for syntigraphy to see if we can find out where the lameness is coming from.

Susan, poor boy, he will get there. The scintigraphy will show up what the root of the problem is for sure, then at least you know what you are dealing with. (((((HUGS))))) from us all

Vet out to Tammuz today, thats us now at 4 weeks since he went lame. Still no improvement , vet still unsure why he is so lame. Tammuz is getting really hacked off with being in now I have to continue what I am doing, bute, asprin, frog supports , bandage legs etc, and wait and see what happens. Hate watching my boy so sore

Poor Tammuz, its a nightmare when they are in pain and you cant get to the root of the problem. Especially as the sun is shining and they want out; we have lost a few summers to laminitis, etc. Keep your chin up Susan, I am sure he will turn the corner, its just a long haul. X

Susan, remind me - have you done the xray thing (etc) yet? Is he still suffering from the laminitis? Poor lad, no wonder he's bored being in I would be pushing for a 2nd opinion i think

Hi, Yes he has had loads of x rays taken, and another set taken only last week. he has also had the leg scanned., and nothing to see.... 4 vets from the practice have all looked at him now, and he has been assessed by Andrew Mc Diarmaid.
Box rest for now till we hope to start to see an improvement, time will tell.......
