Thank you all for your kind words. I spoke with the laminitis clinic today, and they were very helpful. I have him on formula for feet as suggested by them, and they also suggested giving him hi fi lite as a hay replacer. He wont eat last years hay, and this years hay is still too young. He was very sore this morning but my farrier had taken a lot off his heel and toe to help him. I spent most of the afternoon with him as he lay down sleeping, my legs were starting to go numb as he was using them as a pillow

Hi Susan I can only reiterate the sympathies expressed by everyone else on the forum. Arab people are great people and can really empathise with what you are going through. Lots of love to you and your dear boy Tammuz - it will be a long haul but hopefully you can turn a corner with him in the next few weeks. All the best, Lynn x

My poor boy, back from the show today with Khann to find Tammuz very low with severe lymphingitis. Vet came out and gave him antibiotics and pain killers intramuscular . More drugs to give him over the next few days with the vet back out tomorrow to see how he gets on over night. He can now not move in his stable and I am having to make sure water and hay is by his side. I am feeling like I have been kicked in, I just want my boy to get even a wee bit better.

I hope your boy starts to feel better soon. I know how heartbreaking is is to see them in pain and for them not to be able to tell you exactly where and how. My thoughts are with you at this time.

Susan, sorry to hear this but hang on in there. Our filly was so bad that she could hardly get up for about two weeks. She has now made a full recovery and has no more vet or farrier visits planned. She went through five pairs of heart bars, I think but she was so bad initially that there was no way they could be fitted. Now, she is fully sound and her feet are completely back to normal. When I think back to how bad it was eight or nine months ago, I can't believe the outcome, considering the initial prognosis. She never gave up the fight and I know that you will do your best to keep his spirits up. We used the same vets too. Wishing him healing thoughts.

Poor lad, what an ordeal for you both. So glad you've been in touch with Robert Eustace - he is fantastic and so helpful. I do hope the lymphangitis settles soon and he can start getting better.

Sorry your boy is still so sore. At least now you know what you are dealing with. My friend's horse did about nine months box rest with laminitis a couple of years ago. She came over for coffee today and told me that they came second in their first ever cross country competition recently.
Hugs to you both.

Waiting on the lymphingitis to go down on his leg so we can get his heartbars on. He is still very sore, but moving about a wee bit better, mind you he is back on the high dose of bute!!!! Vet is is daily contact with me, and we are all hoping that we can get through this, the odds are stacked against us but there is still hope.

Tammuz has 24 hrs for the vet to see an improvement or else we have to call it a day. Andrew McDermott came out to see him on monday as he was very sore and not weight bearing at all on his right fore. We had to sedated Tammuz so we could look at the foot, and my worst case scenario happened. The pedal bone had prolapsed through the sole. There has not been any improvement in the 8 weeks and also no stabilisation. The vet will be back out tomorrow and if no improvement in his pain levels he will be PTS on thursday morning. I have provisionally made plans for him to be laid to rest in his own field . I never thought for one moment I would have got to this point, I am still hoping for a miracle the next 24hrs and we can continue, but its is looking very unlikely. In the meantime I am spending as much time with him as possible his lovely deep shavings bed is actually quite comfortable. Anyone got a magic wand? As I would sell my soul for it.

Susan, I am sitting here in tears reading your last post, I aint holy but I am praying for you both. I wish there was a cure for this bloody disease. I know exactly how you are feeling at this moment in time; there are no words that will make you feel better. Just know that everyone is thinking of you - and I think I speak for the whole Scottish Arab Horse Community. You have done him proud Susan- lots of people would have given up a long time ago- continue to be strong for your precious boy. With Love to Tammuz from Liz Kaye Darcy and Nadem XXX
